Dominion

Handmade in Montreal

My name is Jesse Giroux and I am the craftsman behind Dominion Leather. I started working with leather in november of 2011.

In my small Montreal workshop, I hand make leather accessories. Each one is made with thoroughness and rigor to offer a product that will stand the test of time.

The world we live in is centered around consumerism and profit. Mass production of cheap goods is one of the pillar of our global economy. We produce more, faster and cheaper. And in order to do so, we outsource our productions to developing countries and we use cheaper materials. The resulting products certainly cost less, but they are also often of poor quality and don’t last very long.

I strongly believe in a more sustainable approach. Buying less goods, but better goods.

Why the name “Dominion” ?

This is a picture of the Dominion Textile Factory, in the village of Montmorency, near Quebec City.

I was born and raised around this place. My great grandfather and his 12 kids were working at this factory. This is where my grandmother, who was a seamstress, met my grandfather who was a woodworker.

I come from a familly with a deep working class heritage and this Dominion Textile Factory played a big role in my family’s history.
